More Murrine Mockups/Glazestyles 4 October, 2008

In the last few days I’ve rewritten the drawing code for the second time since the last stable release (0.53.1), now the code is much more modular and permits easy additions/tweaks in the widgets appearance.

Adding a glaze style like this requires less than 20 lines of code for ALL the widgets and both RGB and RGBA mode!

This means that mockups are really appreciated.

Of course please donate if you want to help me in the development, for more/faster features ;)

Murrine Theming Contest? 2 October, 2008

To show all the possibilities given by the development versions of Murrine, and the new options it will support, I’ve thought about some kind of contest/brainstorm, where the best themes will be part of a separate package that will be out with the next release of Murrine.

The Goal

I’d like to see themes that uses all the new features, gradients shades, contrast, etc etc… to provide an original theme package, a not a simple colorscheme set ;)

Themes should be submitted in the Murrine website, after registering. That will give access for optional voting and similar things.

Donations

Unfortunately this year will be really hard for me and I’ll have less spare time to code with the same free effort I had in the last years. So please consider donating, thinking that I’m a student and I can’t get money from my own due to the little spare time I have, that I’d like, if possible, to spend on free software: murrine, rgba stuff, gnome-do, clearlooks and much more ;)
I really like to write a complete documentation for the development version of Murrine, as well as writing new cool themes for gnome-do!
Thanks for all your help!

Three new smooth themes for Murrine (Chrome, Cream, Candido) 4 September, 2008

Today is the 3-C day: Chrome Cream Candido! :-)

Since I would to show you the new contrast function, I’ve done 3 new themes that are using it to draw their widgets.
They require the latest Murrine SVN snapshot. Emerald themes are included.

You may not like them, they were created just to show the contrast function, not with the goal to be a killer-theme :)

Also, as they have a low contrast, you need to use a great LCD monitor to enhance their feeling, so in some CRTs they might look very odd (I hope not!)

As always, download is available in the Murrine Themes Gallery.

Mockups for Murrine! 23 August, 2008

I know that there are a lot of things that could look better with murrine, starting for example from tabs… :)
So here’s an anonymous, no registration required, mockup-submission-service for murrine:

So, please send all your ideas! (starting from notebook/tabs… eheheh)

Good luck! :)

Please use the bugzilla for bugreports or feature requests! 22 August, 2008

Unfortunately many people don’t use bugreports, maybe because they came from Windows where bugreports are not present and not encouraged. This post is just about this: please use bugreports.

If you find something that you don’t like, something that you think that can be improved, or if you just have an idea, use the bugzilla!

For example: there are some glitches when using a dark gtk+ theme with the murrine/clearlooks engine and…I’ll attach a screenshot…

Or: I would like to have an option to change the progressbar style on my murrine themes

Or even more: I have made a mockup for the tabs/notebook of murrine, here it is…

So, please click here to send a new bugreport for murrine (development version, svn).

Eheheh… I love the GNOME’s bugzilla logo from andreasn (ops) alberto :)

Join the development of Murrine 18 August, 2008

…or maybe you prefer help me with Murrine getting things done faster!

Due to lack of time I haven’t updated the code in the last few months, but If you want to help me we can start working on it from october.

The amazing stuff I’ve added from 0.53.1 in the development trunk guarantees a great flexibility in terms of *new styles* that can be added easily, so if you have some ideas or you are dreaming an innovative new style there’s no reason to keep it private in your mind.

I would really like to have a big community around Murrine and its website, there are a lot of things that can be done.

The channel is of course #murrine, in irc.freenode.net.

Comments are welcome too! :)

Donations: I need some money for a Wifi USB Stick :) 12 June, 2008

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who helped so far!!!

Hi guys, unfortunately my wifi stick dead in the last 2 days, and now I’m forced to be offline.  :(

I’ve tried a resurrection with some soldering without any success. :(

If you want to help me finding some $,  €, whatever :) , please click on the donate link, it will be a beautiful gesture for me, since I’ve always coded for free to you ;)

I should also buy a cheap laptop (strange enough that a hacker doesn’t have a laptop) and few things useful to do some artistic designs (from colorimeters to whatever), so your *thanks* is always very appreciated.

I hope to be online soon, thanks to everyone who is so kind to help me!

GNOME 2.24 Wallpaper Contest 2 April, 2008

Hi Artists/Designers!!!

Today starts the Wallpaper Contest for GNOME 2.24, which should give a fresh breath of new wallpapers.

contest.png

Our idea is to find out good wallpapers to match current GNOME style (Clearlooks and Tangoish style), and with them find out talented artists that may join (if they likes) our artwork team.

There’s not yet an ending date, maybe it will be around the GUADEC, so there can be a discussion in the Meeting.

Please follow the submission guidelines, in both general and quality sections. They summarize the aspects we will take in mind when choosing the winners.

Thanks to KDE people for the permission to take some guidelines from their 4.0 contest :)

Welcome Unity, new GNOME Theme :) 18 March, 2008

Unity and GNOME-Alternative hits GNOME’s trunk (gnome-themes-extras).

clearlooksflat.png

I will do the 2.22.0 release when andreasn will answer me if he needs some more days to complete Foxtrot Icon Theme :)

Anyway I will wait since Unity is in testing, so I can do some fixes if someone notices some bugs.

P.S.: We chose the name Unity over Suave since it follows the design and it means something more :) (Suave got problems with translations/meanings between languages)

P.P.S.: I’ve changed a little bit the text of the inactive titlebar so should be more usable. No screenshots for the moment
