Adjustable transparency for RGBA windows is a must. As you can see in the screenshot, gedit is nigh unusable due to the text and other things poking through so strongly. Those who are able to use blur have it considerably easier, but I, unfortunately, am not among them, and neither is anyone using the open source radeon drivers (I don't know what it's like on the nvidia side). Please create some way to adjust the translucency. Any way at all. Thanks.

You should NOT use RGBA

You should NOT use RGBA without blur. It is not a matter of increase/decrease transparency: it will be ALWAYS unusable.
Consider that now the transparency level is set to 88-92%, and you'll see the text below even at 96%

I see. It looks like I'll

I see. It looks like I'll have to sit out the RBGA party for now, until radeon gets FBO and the other thing that blur needs. But still, I think translucency adjustment, perhaps theme-side, is worth considering at least. Thanks. :)

I think it would still be

I think it would still be nice to be able to adjust the transparency.
Also, is it possible to make murrine engine to set different transparency level for active and inactive windows or is this something that has to be done by the window manager?

It could be nice but it is

It could be nice but it is not planned for the near future.
For your second request it's not possible

That wouldn't make much

That wouldn't make much sense anyways even if it were possible. Text boxes and the like would still be at full opacity. It's better to just use Compiz to do that.

Compiz can't do this

Compiz can't do this

Yes it can, with the

Yes it can, with the TrailFocus plugin.

It is not what murrine is

It is not what murrine is about, compiz is using a fake transparency, murrine uses a real one

Hmm, would Murrine work on

Hmm, would Murrine work on Metacity?

Yes but without blur is not

Yes but without blur is not usable with full transparency

you are using Transset , but

you are using Transset , but the metacity is transparent.
i'm sorry , but mi english is so bad, thanks
